Why is this timber different?
If you’ve been looking around at different timber options, you’ll likely notice some distinct price differences. This is largely due to some of the different ways that timber can be grown, sourced and prepared.
To try and keep up with the demand for timber decking and screening products, there are a number of suppliers who now supply juvenile timbers. As these timbers are a younger and less seasoned timber, these are much less stable, greatly increasing expansion, contraction and twisting in the boards.
At Deck-Max we will not supply supply Juvenile timbers. By investing in better quality timber, the longer term results are both noticeable in appearance and the longevity of your deck. This in turn creates longer term savings and overall, a greatly improved experience.
Choosing the best timber for your deck
Before starting your project, it’s important to be aware of the building standards and construction codes for your area. These will provide your guidelines for construction considerations, moisture content, tolerance and timber grades for your decking.
It is advisable to request that your supplier provides you with a certificate of moisture content and proof of kiln drying, to ensure you are receiving the appropriate timber for your project.
